3 Tips for Staying Within Your Remodeling Budget
Nobody wants to go over budget on a remodeling project. And yet, we’ve all heard horror stories about projects that ended up costing way more than the homeowner planned. Here are three simple tips that can keep your budget in line:
1. Set a Realistic Budget: Before you do anything else, work with an experienced remodeler to set a budget that matches the project you’re planning and what you’re comfortable investing. If you really want a $75,000 kitchen remodel (and can afford it), set your budget accordingly. But don’t deceive yourself by budgeting a low amount for a project that will cost much more. That’s a recipe for you to be frustrated!
2. Get Help in the Planning Stages: Enlist the help of professionals early in the process. As an experienced remodeler, we will often have ideas about how to accomplish your objectives more efficiently and effectively. Tell us what you want to achieve and it’s best if we work together as a team to make it happen.
3. Be Open to Alternatives (without compromising): You may have your heart set on high-end countertops. But your budget may say, “no.” Talk to us about alternatives that deliver the performance you want with a lower price point. Or, you may think the only way to get the extra space you want in your kitchen is to push out the exterior wall. We may be able to make your kitchen more efficient (and make it feel larger) for less of an investment.
These are simple tips, but they can go a long way in keeping your project on budget.
We love what we do and love helping homeowners, like you, through the remodeling process!
